PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display apparatus capable of enhancing contrast by reducing backlight emitting, and to provide a driving method for the same. SOLUTION: In the driving method of the plasma display apparatus, in which reset discharge is performed in normal slits L1 and L3 located in between electrodes in which sustain discharge is performed according to an image signal, and reset discharge is also performed in reverse slits L2 and L4 being between electrodes in which the sustain discharge is not performed regardless of the image signal, the reset discharge of the normal slit and the reset discharge Pxo1 and Pxe1 of the reverse slit are allowed to have different intensities, without taking non-discharge and a wall charge state, after the reset period is made different between the normal slit and the reverse slit.
