PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To significantly shorten time required for data processing and enable printing of data at a high speed when the data needs to be expanded, in a serial scan-type printer. SOLUTION: Input data is received through an interface 1 and is stored in a receiving buffer 2 inside a memory unit 2. Next, after analyzing a command, the data is stored in an image buffer 4, and when the data need not be stretched, the sequential data in the main scan direction which is entered as such by an HV conversion circuit, is covered to the sequential data in the subscan direction in the HV conversion mode. Further, the print data is transferred to a recording head 8 after the processing of of the covered data by a print data processing circuit 7. When the data needs to be expanded, the data is expanded in the subscan direction by a data expounding circuit simultaneously with the HV conversion. |
