PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera which can be configured with specifications in matching with applications of individual users. SOLUTION: The digital camera 2 comprises: a control unit 10; a lens unit 11; an imaging unit 12; a strobe unit 13; and accessory units 15 of a memory unit 14. The control unit 10 and each accessory unit 15 are removable via a common I/F 16. EEPROMs 22 to 25 built in each accessory unit 15 store identification information denoting the performance of components assembled with each accessory unit 15. A CPU 17 accesses the EEPROMs 22 to 25 of the accessory unit 15 mounted to the control unit 10 via the I/F 16 to read the identification information stored in the EEPROMs 22 to 25 for controlling each accessory unit 15.
