摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve effectiveness of thin film covering used in a plasma lamp by taking the absorption of reflection light in plasma into account in design and manufacture of covering to provide a novel multilayer thin film filter for the plasma lamp and a method. SOLUTION: A high luminance discharge lamp includes a molded body light emitting tube 10 suitable for use in a sodium-scandium metal halide lamp. The light emitting tube 10 is made of a light transmissive material such as quartz. The light emitting tube 10 forms a chamber 12 swelling into a round shape in a middle part between tightened both ends 14. One of a pair of electrodes 16 arranged at an interval is each sealed at each of the tightened both ends 14 in the light emitting tube. The chamber 12 contains filled gas, mercury, and one or more metallic halide. The lamp characteristics include lumen per watt exceeding about 85, color rendering index exceeding about 80, and correlation color temperature from about 3,000K to about 6,000K.
