PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rental article management system and a rental article management program that prevent an overdue by enabling a user to check the rental contents of articles anytime from a portable terminal.

SOLUTION: The rental article management system comprises: the lending portable terminal 11 with an RFID reader for reading in ID information stored in an RFID attached to a book 2 to store a borrowing record and send it to a library server 4 via a network 10, and the library server 4 for storing the ID information about the book 2 sent by the RFID-reader-mounted lending portable terminal 11 in loan data storing means 5. A gate type RFID reader 7 installed at a library exit reads in the ID information about a book 2 carried out by the user and collates it with the ID information sent from the RFID-reader-mounted lending portable terminal 11 to prevent a book 2 without borrowing record registration in the RFID-reader-mounted lending portable terminal 11 from being carried out.
