<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical coupling method and a connector with which coupling efficiency can be increased without using a light converging means. <P>SOLUTION: THe connector 2 is equipped with a holding member 3 which holds a POF 10 and a holding member 5 which holds a photodetection optical device 4. The holding member 3 exposes a projection end surface 10a of the POF 10 to the front (to the holding member 5 side). A connection part 3a is engaged with a connection part 5a to connect the holding member 3 and holding member 5 together. At this point, the projection end surface 10a and light receiving optical device 4 face each other at a distance X of about 300μm. A projection beam projected from the POF 10 is a parallel beam without increasing its external diameter over a distance of 0 to 300μm, so optical coupling with high coupling efficiency is realized without providing a light converging means between the projection end surface 10a and light receiving optical device 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
