PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive separator having good shutdown characteristics and meltdown characteristics and excellent insulating properties. SOLUTION: The porous membrane comprises a polyamide-imide resin layer having≥70°C glass transition temperature and≥0.5 dL/g logarithmic viscosity,≥0.5 absorbance at 700 nm of the whole and 5-100μm membrane thickness. A lithium ion secondary battery is obtained by interposing the porous membrane as the separator between a positive pole and a negative pole occluding and releasing lithium ions.
