<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser melting apparatus which has excellent optical property and can appropriately melt an object, and further to provide a laser melting method. <P>SOLUTION: A CO<SB>2</SB>-gas laser beam 5 is reflected by means of total-reflection mirrors 7b, 7c toward a connected portion of optical fibers 2a and 2b. The luminous condition of the connected portion is observed by CCD cameras 9a, 9b.
