PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce ink consumption incident to recovery from poor ejection by recovering recording heads from poor ejection depending on use frequency of ink. SOLUTION: The inkjet printer 1 comprises a plurality of recording heads 7-10 ejecting different color inks of yellow (Y), magenta (M), cyan (C) and black (K), a unit 20 for recovering each recording head 7-10 from poor ejection, and a controller (not shown) for controlling operation of the poor ejection recovery unit 20. In the inkjet printer 1, the controller calculates dot occupancy rate of each color to the dots constituting an image based on inputted image data, judges whether each dot occupancy rate is lower than a specified value or not, and operates the poor ejection recovery unit 20 for the recording heads 7-10 ejecting color ink with a dot occupancy rate exceeding the specified value.
