<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing unit for suppressing the clipping of an input signal while maintaining a high S/N ratio, and to provide the control program of the signal processing unit. <P>SOLUTION: A fader button 16 has a function for adjusting the input level of an input signal inputted to a multiplier 18. During the monitoring period of a level signal 21 for the clipping occurrence of a corresponding input signal, an intersection point PZ is obtained between a straight line L1 passing through a clipping start sample point Ps0 and a sample point Ps1 immediately before it, and a straight line L2 passing through a clipping end sample point Pe0 and a sample point Pe1 immediately after it is obtained. The one having the maximum level difference (d) in the clip occurrence points in which the product Tc×d of the level difference (d) from the clipping level to the intersection point PZ and clipping time Tc is equal to or more than a prescribed value is set to be the maximum clipping occurrence section.
