PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly operable and convenient handy scanner for reading code information obtained by coding a general pattern and specific information, and converting it into a two-dimensional image for automatically judging whether or not code information is included at the time of reading the two-dimensional image, and notifying an operator of the result. SOLUTION: This handy scanner is provided with a decode processing means for decoding code information and a code information detecting means for detecting whether or not the code information is included at the time of reading a two-dimensional image.
