PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide binoculars and a telescope capable of realizing recovery from eyestrain, and made compact and excellent in operability. SOLUTION: The binoculars are equipped with eyepieces, objectives, focus lenses provided to move on optical paths linking between the eyepieces and the objectives, recovery action parts for moving the position of an image observed by an observer by moving the focus lens, and detection parts for detecting the positions of the focus lenses right and left respectively, and equipped with a control part for performing focusing and changing the position of the image by moving the positions of the respective right and left focus lenses on the optical paths, a storage part for storing the position of the focus lens detected by the detection part in the case of performing focusing and in the case of changing the position of the image, and a reception part for receiving designation to read out the position of the focus lens stored in the storage part. When receiving the designation by the reception part, the control part reads out the position of the focus lens from the storage part and moves the focus lens to the position read out.
