PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device capable of obtaining an image giving as a high resolving feeling as possible even when an out-of-focus state is finally judged in the case that an automatic focusing method of finding a focusing position by combining scans with a wide interval and a short interval. SOLUTION: In a focus adjustment processing, a tentative focusing position is found by wide-interval scanning (S200). When the tentative focusing position can not be specified, a focus lens 10a is moved to an excessive focal length position (S206). When the tentative focusing position can be specified, narrow-interval scanning is carried out to calculate a lens position (focusing position) in final focusing (S202). Here, when the specification of the focusing position is successful, the focus lens 10a is moved to the focusing position.
