PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallax sensor capable of parallax image arithmetic operation at a high speed, capable of coping to the same extent as with high speed movement, using a small scale circuit. SOLUTION: The parallax sensor comprises first and second imaging elements 2a, 2b; voltage/pulse width converting circuits 4a, 4b for converting the pixel signals, outputted from the first and second imaging elements 2a, 2b into the pulse width pixel signal of the length of the pulse width proportional to the voltages; a synchronous control circuit for timing control so as to convert all of the voltage/pulse width converting circuits 4a, 4b converts the pixel signals synchronously and in parallel into the pulse width pixel signals; and a plurality of correlation detecting circuits 6 for outputting the signal as a correlation signal, by converting the total pulse length of the difference pulse of exclusive-OR taken of 2 pulse width pixel signals combined with each pulse width pixel signals of a first image and a second image into the voltage value/current value proportional to the total pulse length.
