The knife has a handle and blade, where coding is mechanically included in the upper surface of the blade. The coding is implemented as DATA matrix code, read by a reader and recorded in a database. The database includes information such as usage time of the knife, place of use of the knife, time period for maintenance of the knife and type and characteristics of the knife. An independent claim is also included for a knife recording system with a knife.
