PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the contamination detection of a sensor surface and the contamination detection of the surface of a front grill by use of the same light receiving element in a distance detector of a type to be arranged in rear of the front grill. SOLUTION: The light receiving element 11 is arranged in the intersection of a straight line X connecting an optional point A1 of a part where downward scattered right of laser beam is radiated to a projection window part 1d to an optional point A2 of a part where upward scattered right of laser beam is radiated to the front grill 10 and a circuit board 5. According to this, both the reflected light by contamination adhered to the front gill 10 and the reflected light by contamination adhered to the projection window part 1d can be radiated to the one light receiving element 11.
