PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an LHRH (luteinizing hormone releasing hormone) antagonist intermediate that has reduced process steps than that of the conventional process and yet gives high-purity LHRH antagonist intermediate in high yield. SOLUTION: The following compounds [I] through [VII] are illustrated. The production method of the peptide [I] or its salt comprises at least one step among the following steps (1) through (4). Step (1) where the compound [II], its salt or its reactive derivative and the compound [III], its salt are subjected to condensation reaction to prepare the compound [IV]; step (2) where the product compound [IV] is hydrolyzed to prepare the compound [V] or its salt; step (3) where the compound [IV] or its salt or its reactive derivative and the compound [VI] or its salt are subjected to condensation reaction to prepare the compound [VII] or its salt; and the step (4) where the compound [VII] or its salt is subjected to hydrolytic reaction to prepare the tripeptide [I] or its salt.
