<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a digital camera capable of efficiently reducing the data amount of digital image data to be recorded by photographing. <P>SOLUTION: In this digital camera, a digital signal processor 30 applies predetermined image processing (filtering processing by a high frequency band cut-off filter) to the digital image data indicating a rectangular wide region in an object image indicated by the digital image data acquired by image pickup by a CCD 24. Image processing having a compression rate higher than a predetermined image processing in applying compression processing to the digital image data is applied to the digital image data indicating another region of the object image.
