ADSORPTION/COMBUSTION METHOD FOR HYDROCARBON, AND ITS ADSORPTION/COMBUSTION-FUNCTION UNIFICATION CATALYST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an exhaust-gas purification catalyst which is excellent in HC (hydrocarbon) purification performance at a low temperature in performing a purification treatment of an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine.

SOLUTION: In an HC-adsorption/combustion-function unified catalyst which is used for purifying an HC in the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine and has both an HC combustion function and an HC adsorption function, an HC combustion catalyst is contained. This combustion HC catalyst is composed of CeO2-ZrO2complex oxide as a carrier and a catalytic active component which is carried by the carrier and contains Ni and at least one element selected from among Pd, Pt, and Rh.
