PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable unit specifying a lost place and lost time. SOLUTION: The portable unit is composed of a portable information terminal 1 and a portable device 2. The portable information terminal 1 has a portable telephone function, a communication function with the Internet, a function receiving information from a GPS satellite 4, a communication function with the portable device 2, a security function for protecting privacy and a storage function which always stores new place information/time information. The portable device 2 has a clock function, a security function for protecting privacy of the portable information terminal 1, a communication function with the portable information terminal 1, and a storage function which always stores new place information/time information. When the portable information terminal 1 or the portable device 2 is left behind or lost, left or lost place/time can be specified by using the portable information terminal 1 or the portable device 2 which remains at hand.
