<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording medium having a high endurance in repeated data recording even when data is recorded using a blue laser, enabling a high recording speed and applicable to a wide linear recording speed range, in the information recording medium using a Bi-Ge-Te system phase change material. <P>SOLUTION: The information recording medium has a substrate and a recording layer which is formed on the substrate and also of a phase change material including Bi, Ge, Te and an element M other than the former three.
