PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system which always enables a user to select an institution in an appropriately crowded condition as a destination, and relieves the burden of destination selection on the part of the user. SOLUTION: The navigation system is equipped with an information center 20 and on-vehicle apparatuses 10, which can be connected with each other via communication means. In the information center 20, a congestion calculating portion 22 calculates the condition of congestion of the destination, based on destination information transmitted from an on-vehicle apparatus 10; a destination detecting portion 24 refers to a destination database 23 and detects an uncongested destination, on the basis of that calculated congestion value, and transmits information about that detected destination to the on-vehicle apparatus 10 via a communication portion 21.
