The invention relates to a windshield wiper system with two wipers ( 1, 2 ) that travel in opposite directions and can each be driven by a separate motor (M<SUB>FS</SUB>, M<SUB>BS</SUB>), wherein a regulating unit ( 7 ) is provided for triggering the motors (M<SUB>FS</SUB>, M<SUB>BS</SUB>) separately from each other by means of control signals, wherein the regulating unit ( 7 ) triggers the motors (M<SUB>FS</SUB>, M<SUB>BS</SUB>) of the wipers ( 1, 2 ) in order to preset a time-dependent angular position of the wipers according to a trigonometric function phi(t).
