PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an image display device and a sealing meterial filling device, which surely and easily seal peripheral parts of a back substrate and a front substrate to each other in vacuum without needlessly heating them. SOLUTION: A sealing surface is filled with indium while moving a filling head along the tubular sealing surface located between the back substrate and the front substrate of an FED. Then, the phase of an opening 57 is changed by rotating a filling head to change application width of indium. The application width is so controlled as to set the application width of indium in corner parts of the sealing surface smaller than that at the center of each side part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
