<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sharply simplify data processing, and to increase the generation rate of random numbers of a photon random number generator. <P>SOLUTION: The light from an LED is attenuated to a single photon level by a light attenuator AT. Photons are branched with the probability of 1/2 by a first beam splitter BS1. The branched photons are branched by a second beam splitter BS2 and a third beam splitter BS3 with the probability of 1/2. The photons are detected by any of a first photon detector D1, a second photon detector D2, a third photon detector D3 and a fourth photon detector D4. Thus, it is possible to double the generation rate of random numbers of the photon random number generator. The plurality of sets of the random number generators are integrated into an optical integrated circuit, and the plurality of sets of random number generators are operated in parallel, and the random numbers with almost dozens of mega bits every second are generated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
