PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewage treatment method by which the sewage produced from a toilet, a garbage disposer or the like can be treated without the generation of malodors and solid matter can be made into a valuable resource. SOLUTION: The method for performing sewage treatment by using a vacuum carbonization apparatus 18. A vacuum carbonization chamber 5 equipped with a stirrer 20 and a heating furnace 34 internally provided with an electric heater 25 for heating the vacuum carbonization chamber 5 are provided. The vacuum carbonization chamber 5 is communicatively connected to the heating furnace 24 through an ejector 29. The sewage (raw water) is introduced into the vacuum carbonization chamber 5 and the solid-component of the raw water is carbonized by heating (dry distillation) and after the evaporation steam generated at the time of the carbonization by heating is vacuum sucked and sprayed and introduced into the heating furnace 24, the raw water is passed through a thermal decomposition process and a cooling condensation process and is thereby made into the clean water.
