The vehicle seat (1) has an evacuated vessel (3) containing a zeolite material and another (4) containing brine as a cooling medium. The two vessels are connected by a valve (5) which when opened allows vapour to pass into the first vessel, cooling the seat surface (2,6) through tubing (7).
