<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel fractionating device of an internal combustion engine, detecting abnormality of a device used for fractional distillation of fuel. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel fractionating device 18 of an internal combustion engine includes: a fractionating passage 20 connected to a fuel supply system 11 to fractionate fuel into a gas phase and a liquid phase; a branch part 20b for causing gas phase fuel and liquid phase fuel fractionated in the fractionating passage to branch off; a temperature detecting means 27 for detecting the temperature of the branch part; and a flow rate regulating means 22 for regulating the flow rate of fuel supplied to the fractionating passage. The device 18 further includes an abnormality determination means for setting the flow rate of fuel supplied to the fractionating passage so that the liquid phase fuel is applied to the temperature detecting means, and determining the presence/absence of abnormality in the fuel fractionating device on the basis of a change in the detected temperature of the temperature detecting means in setting the fuel flow rate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
