PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electrolyte for aluminium electrolytic capacitor, exhibiting high conductivity and superior heat resistance, without causing corrosion or deformation of a material, e.g. rubber, constituting the aluminium electrolytic capacitor, and to provide an aluminium electrolytic capacitor which exhibits stabilized performance over a long term, having no leakage of liquid. SOLUTION: The electrolyte for aluminium electrolytic capacitor is produced by dissolving phthalic acid hydrogen spiroammonium salt represented by Formula (1), as electrolyte, into an aprotic solvent, e.g. propylene carbonate and/orγ-butyrolactone, in the range of 1-50 mass%, and an aluminium electrolytic capacitor is produced using that electrolyte.
