<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the sensitivity of a vibrator to be increased by improving its vibration efficiency when drive vibration is excited, and to enable unneeded noises to be reduced when detections are carried out. <P>SOLUTION: The vibrator 1A is formed along a prescribed plane (X-Y plane). The vibrator 1A is equipped with a drive vibrating reed 4 whose drive vibration is excited in the prescribed plane; a wide width section 5 formed at the head of the drive vibrating reed 4; a detection vibrating reed 8 in which detection vibration E is excited perpendicularly to the prescribed plane in accordance with a rotational angular rate of the vibrator, when the vibrator is rotated around an axis of rotation Y in the prescribed plane; and a base section 2A which connects the drive vibrating reed 4 to the detection vibrating reed 8. A groove 10 is formed in the drive vibrating reed 4. The detection vibrating reed 8 has a pair of surfaces approximately parallel to the prescribed plane and a pair of elongated projections projecting from the surfaces approximately perpendicularly to the prescribed plane. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
