PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packet transfer apparatus, a packet transfer method, a program, and a recording medium, capable of easily and remotely maintaining a prescribed terminal, without registering the IP address of a terminal for maintenance. SOLUTION: The packet transfer apparatus includes a packet transfer restricting means for applying transfer restriction to a packet transferred to the terminal; a domain name storing means for storing domain name information of a maintenance apparatus for maintaining the terminal; a domain name acquisition means for acquiring the domain name information corresponding to the address information included in the packet on the basis of the prescribed information included in the received packet; and a transfer restriction release means for releasing the transfer restriction of the packet transmitted from the maintenance apparatus, when the domain name information acquired by the domain name acquisition means matches the domain name information of the maintenance apparatus stored in the storage means.
