The plant parts are lifted from the soil by a pick-up unit (28) and guided through a duct (26) to the condensing area (18). The resulting cube-shaped unit (44, 46) is wrapped with twine (42, 66, 68) and moved to the outlet. The outlet mechanism (72) is only activated after the bale (44, 46) has been formed and comprises a hydraulic drive (86) and several triangular conveyor elements (80). The elements (80) are joined to two bars (74, 76) above each other and can be transferred into a vertical or a folded position by a horizontal motion of the lower bar (76).
