PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently filter original water by effectively preventing a filtration membrane from being clogged by turbid matter etc. in the original water by surely forming an activated carbon membrane having uniform thickness on the filtration membrane when the original water introduced into a filtration module is filtered while adsorbing organic matter etc. in the original water by using activated carbon. SOLUTION: This filtration apparatus is provided with: the filtration module 1 in the casing 1A of which the filtration membrane 2 is housed for filtering the original water W to obtain filtrate T; a filtrate discharging means 4 connected to the filtration module 1 for discharging the filtrate T and; an activated carbon-suspended suspension supplying means 8 for supplying an activated carbon C-suspended suspension E to the filtration module 1 in such a condition that the original water W is not introduced into the filtration module 1. A membrane or a layer of activated carbon C is formed on the filtration membrane 2 by filtering the suspension E by the filtration membrane 2 and then the original water is filtered by introducing the original water W into the filtration module 1.
