PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance connectability and data transfer rate between apparatus in a modular copy machine by a simple arrangement. SOLUTION: An image input unit 10 has a communication IF 15 for transmitting/receiving image data and a sync signal to/from a controller 30 by serial system, and a controller 30 has a communication IF 36 for transmitting/receiving image data and a sync signal to/from the image input unit 10 by a serial system.
