VERTICAL MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reconcile both of high recording density and high reliability in a vertical magnetic recording medium by simultaneously improving an electromagnetic transducing characteristic and corrosion resistance. SOLUTION: In a structure of laminating magnetic layers of different materials in the magnetic recording layer 15 of the vertical magnetic recording medium 1, a lower magnetic layer 151 has a structure of surrounding ferromagnetic crystal grains 20 by a nonmagnetic crystal boundary 21 mainly composed of an oxide or nitride, and an upper magnetic layer 152 has a structure of surrounding ferromagnetic crystal grains 30 by a nonmagnetic crystal boundary 31 mainly composed of Cr.
