<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer printer which can enhance convenience of a user by achieving a space saving and a reduction in cost. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of ink layers Y, M, C and Bk, which can be transferred onto a card C, and a single clear layer CL, wherein a transfer layer is not built up, are sequentially and repeatedly arranged in an ink ribbon R. A thermal head 32 of an information recording part 20 continuously performs printing processing wherein printing information peculiar to a possessor of the card is irreversibly printed on the card C by sequentially heating respective sections of the ink layers Y, M, C and Bk of the ink ribbon R, and printing processing wherein the rewrite printing area with a leuco dye and a developer on the side of the card C is heated in the state of abutting on the clear layer CL of the ink ribbon R, so that printing can be done in the rewrite printing area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
