<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus which is attached with an option board and is capable of acquiring an output having the same appearance as that at the time of outputting information by the function of a main body, even in outputting the information of an expanded function, and to provide the option board. <P>SOLUTION: A format to be used in outputting the information about a function provided by the option board 2 is registered in a storage unit 22 in advance. In outputting the information from the option board 2, the corresponding format stored in the storage unit 22 is read together with the information to be outputted, and the format is transmitted to the main body of the information processing apparatus 1 though an interface 23.
