<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress such a phenomenon that developer chains (a developer in a chain-like state) are produced at the end of a magnetic member opposing to a developing roller and the developer at the top end of chains drops to the outside of a developing apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A magnetic plate 54 has a protruding part 54a opposing to the roller end region where a magnet inside the developing roller does not oppose, and has a separating part 54b opposing to the magnet opposing region. This reduces lateral movement of the developer toward the roller end region as well as stress on the developer. Moreover, as the plate is provided with a magnetic extended part 54c extended as bent from the end of the protruding part in the direction of the developing roller axis to the upstream side in the moving direction of the developing roller surface, the lines of magnetic force generating inside the magnetic plate pass from the protruding part to the extended part, which results in a decrease in the number of lines of magnetic force exiting from the edge of the protruding part and prevents formation of developer chains in the edge. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
