<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable correcting character strings replaced into meaningless symbols (garbled characters) and displayed due to wrong estimation of character-coding system when a composite machine receives the character strings containing no character coding system, and enable correction of a character coding system of character strings containing the same character string coding result as that corrected by a user from among the character strings stored in the composite machine. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 for forming an image has a character string receiving means for receiving character strings containing a character string coding result which is a result of character coding on the basis of the coding system, a coding system estimating means for estimating the coding system, on the basis of the character coding result included in the character string received in the character string receiving means, a character string storing means for storing the coding system estimated in the coding system estimating means so that the coding system is included in the corresponding character string, a character string searching means for searching a character string containing the same character coding result as the character coding result to be corrected by the user from the character string storage means, and a first coding system correcting means for correcting the coding system contained in the character string searched by the character string searching means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
