The present invention relates to an apparatus, method and computer program for determining the identity of at least one nucleotide in a nucleic acid molecule, by way of sequentially detecting a measurable quantity of a reaction when the nucleotide is incorporated to form a base pair with a complementary base in the nucleic acid molecule. Means (15) is arranged for provision of nucleotides to the nucleic acid molecule, a detector (10) is adapted to determine whether or not a dispensated nucleotide is incorporated in the nucleic acid sequence of the molecule, registration means (20) is provided for storage of the detected nucleic acid sequence, a catalogue (30) includes a retrievable plurality of possible sequences of the detected and registered nucleic acid sequence, the catalogue being accessible for a comparing means (40). The comparing means is adapted to retrieve and compare the detected registered nucleic acid sequence, which is stored in the registration means, with the possible sequences of the catalogue. Moreover the invention is characterised in that dispensation control means (50) is provided to adapt the order of following dispensations in response to the correspondence, which is established by the comparing means, between the nucleotides of the detected and registered sequence and the catalogue of possible sequences. |
