System for protecting the crown of a dyke against breakage or giving way comprises two iron plate strips that are rammed down in they dyke to the level of the river bed. Then a fixed road surface, 3 to 4 m wide with drainage is laid with concrete between the plate strips. On the river bed side concrete strips are concreted onto the iron plates. The strips have recesses for holding iron girder carriers in which concrete or wood plate finished parts are set according to height and requirement.
