PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a substrate with concave portions for microlenses, capable of manufacturing the microlens substrate having a superior viewing angle characteristics, and to provide a substrate with concave portions for microlenses, a microlens substrate, a transmission type screen, and a rear-type projector. SOLUTION: A microlens substrate 1 is provided, on the substrate with a plurality of first microlenses 11, and a plurality of second microlenses 12 which exist between the first microlenses 11 and are smaller than the first microlenses 11.
