<p>Although harmful effects of several edible oils on animals have been clearly indicated using as, for example, life-shortening activity on SHRSP rat, there has been identified no harmful substance other than vegetable cholesterol. In order to promote human health and elevate safety of livestock and poultry, it is intended to provide an edible oil having no or lowered life-shortening activity. Thus, it is intended to provide an edible oil which has lowered life-shortening activity with little change in its composition such as fatty acid composition and triacylglycerol molecular species composition. A method of refining an edible oil characterized by comprising preparing an edible vegetable oil (referred to as an edible oil in short) via conventional steps of deacidifying, decoloring, deodorizing, etc., molecular-distilling the edible oil or heating the edible oil and treating its thin film under reduced pressure, and then removing the distillate.</p> |
