PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide protective paper for suppressing articles including documents, books and clothes from deterioration and protecting them, to produce the protective paper, i.e. Alpinia speciosa paper or its layer using much Alpinia speciosa stems and leaves respectively, and to use the former paper on the side of a to-be-protected article and the latter paper on the outer side. SOLUTION: The Alpinia speciosa paper prevented from decline in antimicrobial tendency is produced by using Alpinia speciosa fibers in a raw condition rather than being subjected to boiling treatment with a digestive liquid. The Alpinia speciosa paper using the stems alone or using the stems more than the leaves and the Alpinia speciosa paper using the leaves more than its stems are produced respectively, and the former paper is laid on the side of an object to be protected, while the latter paper on the outer side, thereby the paper is used to applications including packaging, thus enabling resulting in improving antimicrobial effect and aesthetic effect as well.
