PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel clathrate compound suitable for a thermoelectric transducer, and a thermoelectric transducer therewith. SOLUTION: This thermoelectric transducer is a sintered product of a clathrate compound represented by composition formula (1): Ba<SB>8</SB>Ga<SB>x</SB>Si<SB>46-x</SB>(14≤x≤24), and compressive strength of not lower than 5 kg/mm<SP>2</SP>can be realized by prescribing the density of the thermoelectric transducer to not lower than 4.21 g/cm<SP>3</SP>.
