PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid deterioration of efficiency of a drum like worm reduction gear. SOLUTION: A drum like worm 1 is formed into a low tooth. Thereby, compared to a drum-like worm with a normal tooth, a meshing position can be only a portion near a central shaft of the drum-like worm 1. Because a lead angle of the drum-like worm 1 is larger at a dedendum than at an addendum, the drum-like worm 1 can be meshed only at a portion with a large lead angle. Compared with the drum-like worm 1 with the normal tooth, efficiency can be improved, as a result of which a steering wheel can be smoothly returned. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
