PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content retrieval method, system, and a program, and a program recording medium, capable of simultaneously retrieving a content which a user has viewed and a content which the user has not viewed in response to a request of the user, and distinguishably displaying whether or not the user has already viewed the information, about the information which the user has viewed in the past. SOLUTION: A retrieval device 1 holds browsing history information about the user, and performs retrieval within a range of the information which the user has viewed in the past, in an in-browsing-page retrieval part 8. Adaptability to the retrieval request is calculated in each information of a retrieval result obtained from the in-browsing-page retrieval part 8 and an all-page retrieval part 7 on the basis of the browsing history information about the user. The content viewed by the user is recorded and held together with an update date. The total adaptability to the retrieval request is calculated on the basis of the adaptability to the retrieval request not based on a browsing history of the user and the adaptability to the retrieval request based on the browsing history.
