<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent image forming apparatus which prevents an image defect caused by abnormal discharge by humidifying dry paper, and also prevents an image defect caused by the adhesion of water to an image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is constituted of the image carrier on which a toner image is formed, a transfer means for transferring the toner image to transfer material and a transfer material conveying means for conveying the transfer material to the transfer means, and is equipped with a transfer material humidifying means for humidifying the transfer material before the toner image is transferred to the transfer material on the transfer material conveying path of the transfer material conveying means.
