PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron based porous body having excellent adhesion and strength. SOLUTION: The iron based porous body for casting is essentially composed of Fe, has many vacancies, and is cast-in by a casting material essentially consisting of Al or Mg. The iron based porous body comprises a bonding part 1 having a high porosity in the vicinity which can be made into a boundary with the casting material, and a reinforcing part 2 provided at the part other than the bonding part 1, and having a lower porosity and higher strength than those of the bonding part 1. According to the iron based porous body, the casting material is firmly bonded by the bonding part to increase adhesion, and further, owing to the reinforcing part having high strength, the casting material is sufficiently reinforced.
