<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the waiting and starting time for an image data print in which not much gradation property of the image is required by carrying out simple gradation control in which the number of patches for gradation control in waiting time is reduced and furthermore, carrying out formal gradation in idle time for a job, etc. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, by having control simplifying automatic gradation compensation instructed and at the same time, having simplified automatic gradation control carried out only when judged that simplification is necessary and carrying out the conventional automatic gradation control anew by utilizing the idle time of the image forming apparatus, starting of the image forming apparatus is thus speeded up and the gradation property of the image forming apparatus is not spoiled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
